Also known as Knitbone..a salve for broken or fractured bones and lacerated flesh.A rapid healer of bones and skin by the means of accelerated mitosis (cell division).Also very useful in the treatment of varicose ulcers and any form of sore that refuses to heal..and for rheumatoid arthritis,scalds,bruises and any form of skin lesion.

  Bruisewort Ointment: 30ml jar £2.99        

 

Little daisies for little people.A children's ointment for bruises,bumps,cuts and grazes and little everyday accidents.

Takes the sting out of a frightening or painful experience...and dries up the tears.

 

Soft and gentle.

Infused oils of daisy flowers and leaves,unrefined beeswax.

 

  Dandelion Ointment: 60ml jar £4.25         

For muscular pain,sports injuries,rheumatic joints..all manner of aches and pains.

A soft golden ointment,warm and penetrating.

 

Infused oils of dandelion flowers,leaf and root,unrefined beeswax.

 Drawing Ointment        60mls    £4.25  

 

Slippery elm and marshmallow root..a powerful ointment to draw the infection from small stubborn wounds.

 

This is not an ointment designed for all over use,but to be used specifically on the point of infection.A nice soft ointment,one that will apply easily without applying too much pressure on sore,infected wounds.A wound that looks red and inflammed and begins to itch is not healing up..it's becoming infected,and the only way to cure it without taking antibiotics is to draw the infection out.

Apply a small amount on a clean dressing specifically to the infected area..and periodically apply until all the infection has been drained out.Don't expect miracles immediatley,it can take hours for a wound to become infected,it'll take just as long to draw the infection out.And the most important thing is to draw out ALL the infection.Wash the cleaned wound with an antiseptic herbal wash,lavender or tea tree, and then dress as normal.

This excellent ointment is a must for gardeners..works wonderfully well in drawing out those stubborn thorns that can cause painful infections under the skin.It works equally well on torn and infected whitlows,stubborn pimples and boils.Anything that needs to be brought to a head..and drawn out,even those wounds that heal on the surface and do not heal within.

Periwinkle ointment.

A gren ointment made form sprig gathered periwinkle leaves and flowers.

A powerful all round astringent..and an excellent blood stopper.

Remarkable action on all manner of skin irritations from acne to ecezma,dermititis and psorarisis.

Infused oil of white willow bark,camphor,eucalyptus and clove oil and pure unrefined beeswax.A mild analgesic for rheumatic and arthritic pain,sprains,pulled muscles bumps,bruises and bangs about the head...or simply the aches and pains of everyday life.

This salve does not treat the underlying cause of the pain..but is a natural pain reliever for everyday use.

Elder leaf,ground ivy,plantain,comfrey and calendula..a traditional remedy for all manner of inflammation..either external from wounds,cuts or grazes,and to treat the internal causes of inflammation..rheumatics,arthritis,boils,abcesses,torn muscles and tendons.

There are many variations of this salve,traditionally it is based on what is locally available,as all traditional herbal remedies are.This is our local variation,and  a great favourite.A true child of the by ways and hedgerows.

Two ancient botanicals with a long history of healing.

 

Astringent and soothing,with the ability to balance blood flow through the skin,so evening skin tone,skin texture and colouring.

An excellent salve for the treatment of broken or thread veins,and for the pain,discomfort and control of varicous veins and the effective control of cellulite..

But also an excellent all over salve,one that promotes clear and healthy skin with regular use.

 

 

 

 Weybroed Ointment       60mls £4.25 

 

Weybroed,or Waybread,commonly known as  broad leaved plantain.

A herb whose use dates back to the Anglo Saxon Herbals,a travellers herb found growing by the wayside.

 

An excellent ointment for the feet and ideally suited to hikers and ramblers.This astringent botanical can also fight the growth of bacteria which results in unpleasant foot conditions.It also protects against blisters and revitalises hot,tired and aching feet.

What's more,folklore tells us it protects you against snake bites as well.Very useful indeed.Seriously..after all,you never know what you might encounter along the highways and byways.

 Poor Man Salve

An old family favourite..so named because it was once employed by farm workers for the protection and healing of their hands during winter weather.

A salve crafted from some of the oldest and most beloved hedgerow herbs..yarrow,calendula,figwort,chickweed and comfrey.

Effective against deep cuts..as deep as the bone,weeping eczema,psoriasis,absecess, all manner of itchy rashes,chaps,chaffs,chilblians,blisters,boils,muscular rheumatism..gout..even sore throats.

Soothing and healing,dispelling the heat from inflammed wounds and infected wounds.Safe to use on very deep cuts and weeping cuts...and an excellent barrier cream against the most extreme o weather conditions.

This salve contains infused oils o the above herbs in equal proportions and pure unrefined beeswax..nothing else.

 

Poor Man's Salve 60mls  £4.25   

 

 Nignon Wyrta..Nine Herbs Salve     60 mls  £5.50  

 

The Nine Sacred herbs of Leececraeft..

 

It has been said that if a man knew well just these nine,then he would be a very powerful magician indeed..and  a great healer.

 

Much contoversy rage as to the exact modern interpretation of these herbs..but the truth is that herbs were often magically named in older charms and their identity does not always translate literally.Anglo Saxon remedies were not made to simply combat the physical disease..but also to provide protection and spiritual strength..even when there were no actual visible manifestations of illness.

This salve is handcrafted using the nine herbs commonly accepted by most Anglo Saxon scholars..mugwort,plantian,chervil,betony,chamomile,nettle,lambs cress,fennel and crab apple.Traditionally the herbs should be pounded in apple juice and then with butter or lard..but perhaps butter and lard are nowadays unacceptable..so this salve uses raw unrefined beeswax.

Like all magical healing remedies,this salve requires that the patient be "sung over" morning and evening..Singing over means the repitition of a related charm..so all jars of this salve come with a copy of the Nine Herbs Metrical charm..which you might use ..or not.

 

This is a cure all,a formidable force of protection as well as healing,a salve that might be used not just for maifested illnesses,but also for psycological or spiritual illnesses,when there are no physical signs present..it works on many levels and brings with it the accumulated knowledge and wisdom of the ancient leeches,to whom magic and medicine were so closley entwined as to be the one thing.

 

 

 Pure Horse Chestnut Infused Oil      30ml bottle   £3.25   

 

Infused oil of horse chestnut...a deeply penetrating and nourishing oil and a vital ingredient in anyone's skin care regime.The base oil in this product is Vit E rich pure cold pressed Tuscan sunflower oil.

 

Horse chestnut is a powerful astringent which helps to open the blood vessels in the skin and get the blood moving.Excellent for broken or thread veins,tired sluggish skin with slow circulation and cellulite..even beneficial against the pain of varicous veins.Which is why it appears in some of the more expensive cosmetics.

And then there is it's effect on the hair...this oil used regularly as a deep conditioner will return the hair to a beautiful deep glossy shine,to say nothing about vastly improving the condition.It can be used as it comes,or added to your own conditioners or regular beauty products.

To use it neat,simply warm a tablespoon of oil over hot water,depending on the length and thickness of your hair,of course, and massage into the hair,concentrating first on the driest ends,and working towards the roots.Leave for half an hour and wash out with  a mild shampoo.

A green,fresh oil traditionally used in the control of ulcerated,inflammed skin..also eczema and psoraisis.

Astringent and anti inflammatory,and when combined with a heavier carrier oil,like this Vit E rich pure Tuscan sunflower oil..also emollient and deeply nurishing for speedy skin repair.

 

 Rosemary,Lavender and Thyme Hair Oil  30 mls £3.25 

 

Infused oils of English Lavender,wild rosemary and wild thyme..with an added secret..broom.For clean and healthy hair..and no head lice.

Once favoured as strewing herbs,rosemary,lavender and thyme were prized not simply for their fragrance..but for their ability to repel pests.....ticks,lice and fleas cannot abide the smell..and broom is an old weapon in the fight against lice eggs..nits.

Simply warm a teaspoon of this oil ( the amount you will need will depend on the length and thickness of your hair) massage into the scalp and comb through the hair..leave for half an hour and wash out.Not only does it condition the hair beautifully,it also repels nasties.A few drops on a brush used regularly will make sure they stay away..

 Pure Infused Wild Rose Hip Oil

Handcrafted from autumn collected wild dog rose hips..a powerfully astringent and anti inflammatory oil,totally free form any chemical preservative,colourants or perfumes.Just as it comes,wild dog rose hips infused in Vit E rich pure cold pressed sunflower oil.

An oil with the abilty to reduce even old scar tissue by regenerating and repair cell growth and support vital natural elasticity in the skin.A fine oil for all dry or mature skins,weatherbeaten or sunburnt skin,dry eczema or skin scarred by acne.
