A mirror of seemingly simple design..no occult symbols,just a myriad of botannicals arranged about it's frame.But these botannicals carry with them an arcane and ancient symbolism in traditional crafts,behind the barks berries and botannicals lie deep and profound concepts connected to the concept of Frith/domestic harmony/wellbeing..and the family

This is the Oracle..a mirror with a simple intention..to be used for scrying and divining..for the asking of questions pertinant to the current and future well being of a family,household or group.

You may have heard him,just beyond hearing,or in your dreams awake or
asleep,or in the dark corners of your mind and the dark corners of
the world.He may have stolen your attention.A person's curiosity
shines like a glittering jewel in the otherworld,and it attracts
him.You may have seen him,like the shifting dark within the
darkness,or the fleeing of the light.Like a dark cloud passing above
you,or the streak of iridescence in the corner of your eye.

Stunning and somewhat stark traditional black scrying mirror.

This piece bears a runic charm which has been taken form an ancient Halsing song..a galdr or charm to invoke benevolant spirits to reveal the near future..in all it's detail.

The charm,which is scribed in runic stave on ash wood discs reads:

Wyrdda Web,the telling of days..reveal things all.

At the top of the mirror is the Messenger of the Gods..a ravens skull and at the bottom..a Ravens foot representing the exchange of knowledge between the invisible spirit and the visible manifested.

This skull and foot are more than simple symbolic representations..they are,in the experienced magicans hands,a means of summoning the messenger between worlds.

Nowadays we still wish..we close our eyes and breath our wish into a candle flame over our birthday cakes..we toss a coin into a wishing well and whisper our secret desires into the depths..and then we go away,hoping we've been heard by something..anything,something out there that might,as if by magic,grant our wishes.Of course most of us believe it's all nothing but a bit of fun..yet some of us don't.Some of us take our wishes very seriously indeed.Seriously enough to do something about them.

You might ask what is within the tangle of wood?

Just what it says in the rhyme..red thread,bindweed,thorns and briars...

There are also bent pins and each ball contains a small piece of clear quartz.Each ball is hand woven through with red thread and hangs on a hand braided red thread cord.

Why balls?

Well a ball is circular,akin to a magic circle....and a circle has no end,no joins and no corners..you can't easily escape from a circle.

Their purpose is protection..to confuse and entrap malicious sprites.

Quartz Tangled Thread Sprite Ball.

Handcrafted sprite balls based on the same principle as those above..but each of these balls has small quartz crystals woven in with the red thread.Their purpose is to deflect and reflect...the use of reflective surfaces and clear quartz to deflect and entrap entities is a very old practise,small quartz spherical stones have been found in Germanic and Celtic burial mounds.Quartz has long been used to absorb negative energies..and to amplfy power.

Natural Mystic Hazel Wood Stick Runes

A wonderful set of traditional stick runes..handcrafted in hazel wood and retaining all the natural features associated with the wood.

This set is the complete 24 staves of the elder futhark..NO blank or wyrd rune,sorry.

Handcrafted from the cutting of the wood to the final varnishing and polishing,these runes are ritually made..each stave has been intoned when scribed by a practising helrunner.

Stick runes are older than standard modern disc runes and these are beautiful as well as very powerful...for maximum effect we generally craft runes from the most culturally and spirtually related woods..hazel,ash,alder or yew,This set has been crafted to retain the bark,gnarls and natural features,each stave is scribed onto a small area of stripped wood which gives the set a very nice two tone appearance.Each piece measures on average 3cms in length and 4.5cms in circumference,though variations in size will occur simply because they are made completely by hand using no modern machinery.

Because of the wood employed in their crafting ,these runes are perhaps more relevant to runic magic as opposed to pure divination.For those who wish only to divine we would recommend either alder or yew wood .Sets to follow soon.

Beautiful hazel wood stick runes..these are crafted from stripped hazel wood cut by ourselves and crafted enitiely by hand according to tradition.The staves are clear and bold and very easy to read and are scribed onto the wood in natural pigments.These runes are crafted to retain the natural features of the wood..so they will often be streaked with golden pigmentation and gnarled.Each rune has three fine coats of varnish and a semi matt finish,so these are very durable,weather proof rune staves,they can be cast of thrown as you will without fear of breaking or chipping.

As they are natural handcrafted items,the tickness of the runes will vary slighlty..as you might expect.Each rune is cut from the one long hazel stave and the set is completed in one sitting.

Ritual Pigments

Traditional handcrafted ritual pigments.Hand ground natural pigments traditionally used for body adornment..the painting of sigils,symbols and stave on avrious parts of the body for individual rites and workings.

Now first things first..these are NOTmodern body paints or face paints..they are water based naturally occcuring minerals used to make colours..and those colours might be used for many things..form the painting of the self to the staining of risted stavees.

Below you can see an example of each of the traditional colours in stock at the moment..Red Ochre,the Red Dead,used for necromancy and all work concerning the dead,binding,sainig or "reddening", Black Earth...standard magical .pigment and Ashes and Bones, white pigment..generally worn with black to signify balance,the extremes of the polarities.

Now these pigments are fast drying and when dry the excess powder can be either gently brushed away or blown off..what is left behind is much more subtle..akin to an old tattoo.Both colours wash off easily with soap and water.And there you can see Odhinn's Illusionary stave,one of the Terror Staves,a variety of rune staves and one unidentifiable squiggle...use a fine brush for fine work..and a thicker brush for larger areas.But remember..these are natural pigments,they will not give you perfect,pretty stage make up.

Each pigment is supplied in a 10ml amber bottle.Use straight from the bottle.As they are natural products the contents are likely to settle and seperate.Shake the bottle well before use and mix well with a fine brush or thin stick before use to ensure a correctly blended pigment.
