The Green Man

Thunder Wood..a tree long sacred to the Sky Fathers,the gods of thunder and lightning,from Jove to Thunnor,the Oak tree has been symbolic of masculine power and strength and has repeatedly appeared throughout magical and spiritual tradition in many cultures.

From the sacred groves of the Druids to the boundary oaks of old England,from Herne to Robin Hood,somewhere in our favourite myths and legends there is an oak tree...symbolic of the wildwood spirit,the Horned God,the Woodwose,the Green Man...the legenday primal greenwoods.

An essential masculine force,oak wood is often cast as the guardian,the sentinel,a strong tree,a chieftain and a tree of great protection..very few refer to it's wildness..this is raw masculine magical energy..the spirit of the wildwood,Jack-in-the-Green,Puck,Robin Goodfellow..whatever name you give to the Lord of the Forest..he is here..in the Oak tree.

Acorns and oak apples..the oak leaf..hearts of oak..men of war..the oak tree has stood it's ground for so long in the British mythology it's become part of the national identity.

Our oak wood wands are not simply for the authoritative leaders,the solemn,stoney faced elders..they are primarily for the wild spirit..the spirited young magical buck,if you like..the Knight Errant..these are no wands for those who have lost their enthusiasm for magic....these are wands for those who would run with the stag..and hunt with the wolf.To truely appreciate a Wyldewood Oaken Wand,you must forget all the dourness of obtaining power and strength..and learn to be wild again.

We use common English Oak wood in the crafting of our wands,nothing else,no Durmast Oak or Red Oak or Turkey Oak..just plain simple English Oak wood.

All our wood is taken from two sources..one is Ynys Mon,or Angelsey Island off the North Wales Coast,the last stronghold of the ancient Druids,and the Other is English Boundary Oak..taken from the English side of Offa's Dyke,the ancient boundary that once divided Saxon land from the Celtic Tribes.

Consequently,we refer to these woods as Druid's Oak..and English Oak.

A phenomenal piece..Druids Oak taken from Ynys Mon,a beautiful strong wand of a rare size.One of this seasons new range,all cut at Midsummer 2009.

Light oak in colour and characteritsically gnarled,this is a chieftain's piece,a true power wand measuring 55cmss in length and 6cms in circumference.

This wand has been fitted with a copper ring and a tri coloured cord.This wand has a smoother finish

A good strong medium coloured oaken wood wand...slightly smaller than out other oak woods..but a very comfortable piece in the hand.

A strong wand with a very nice set of characteristic gnarls along it's length,deep graining and heavy pigmentation.
